President
Malaysian Society for Hip and Knee Surgeons (2025–2027)
Dear Colleagues, Friends, and Distinguished Guests,
On behalf of the Malaysian Society of Hip & Knee Surgeons (MSHKS), it is my great pleasure and honour to welcome you to the 26th Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society Annual Scientific Meeting and the 5th MSHKS Annual Scientific Meeting, held in beautiful Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 26 to 29 August 2026.
This joint meeting represents a unique opportunity for surgeons, clinicians, researchers, and allied healthcare professionals across the Asia-Pacific region to come together, exchange cutting-edge scientific knowledge, and strengthen professional collaborations. Working alongside our colleagues from the Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society (APAS), we are committed to delivering a programme of the highest academic quality that reflects the rapidly evolving landscape of hip and knee arthroplasty.
Over four days, you will have the chance to engage with world-class faculty, participate in stimulating scientific sessions, contribute to discussions on advances in surgical techniques and patient care, and share your own research through podium and poster presentations. Beyond the formal programme, this meeting embraces the vibrant spirit of collegiality and professional friendship that defines our specialty.
Malaysia offers a rich cultural tapestry, warm hospitality, and a thriving cosmopolitan city in Kuala Lumpur — providing an inspiring backdrop for both professional and personal exploration. We hope you will take time to enjoy the many experiences our host city has to offer.
Thank you to our international and regional partners, sponsors, and industry supporters for making this meeting possible. Your contributions are integral to the success of this event.
It is with great anticipation that we welcome you all to APAS-MSHKS 2026. May this meeting be enriching, rewarding, and memorable for each of you

President
Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society
Since its inception in 1997, APAS has been a society built on identifying and addressing the needs of arthroplasty in Asia. From its early days of “roughing it” to becoming a significant organization with far-reaching influence, APAS has remained true to the vision of our founders: WK Chung, Ray Randall, and Jim Sutherland.
Our guiding principles have always been:
• To introduce the foundations of arthroplasty to surgeons across the region.
• To train surgeons in mastering arthroplasty techniques.
• To establish systems and centers that advance the field.
• To foster enduring friendships among arthroplasty surgeons in Asia and around the world.
Today, APAS continues to grow in both friendship and influence, uniting generations of surgeons in a shared pursuit of excellence. Our excellent new website has been designed to foster easier communications between members and learners and we hope that greater online interaction will stimulate fellowship and learning. Here is the link to the APAS website.
While technology enhances our communication, nothing replaces the value of live interaction. Life is better when shared, and APAS is enriched by the camaraderie of its members. The value of the website is that we can share our thoughts and knowledge and memories easily.
So, join us for an unforgettable meeting where innovation, learning, and friendship come together.
Please do register and make yourself known! Its certainly a far cry from our humble origins.

2026 APAS Scientific Chairman
Combined APAS And MSHKS ASM 2026, Guest Nation for 2026 is SINGAPORE
I would like to invite you to attend the 26th annual scientific meeting which is planned for August 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.
As we recall the wonderful scientific exchange and social events that many of us enjoyed in Saigon in 2025 and the excellent input from our colleagues who joined us from the Vietnamese Arthroplasty & Arthroscopy Society, we now similarly look forward to collaborating with our colleagues from the Malaysian Society for Hip & Knee Surgeons.
The conference will run over 4 days from Wednesday 26 August - Saturday 29 August 2026 and the venue will be the beautiful Shangri-La hotel in KL. As in previous years there will be a half day event on the first day Wednesday August 26 including industry masterclasses and the APAS instructional arthroplasty course aimed at our junior colleagues. The main scientific program will commence on Thursday August 27 with the opening ceremony and plenary sessions in the morning.
Our guest nation for this conference will be Singapore and we welcome our colleagues from Singapore to join us for this conference with a number of prominent speakers invited from their society. APAS as we have every year will ensure a mix of excellent academic interchange, presentations on current arthroplasty topics and advances that keep us focused and questioning value and affordability of today’s technology. Debate and panel discussions will no doubt fire up some of our faculty as they share with you the range of pathology and clinical cases that have challenged them over the past few years. We will also be looking for your contributions in the form of in-session surveys and free paper podium contributions with great value prizes for our best papers from emerging younger surgeon scientists.
APAS would not be the same without the warm social comradery that flows from one conference to another with great events planned for our faculty evening and the grand gala dinner for all attendees.
They say that Durian is the king of fruits at least in the Asia Pacific region so we compare APAS similarly as the king of arthroplasty conferences to attend in the Asia Pacific region so don’t miss out on the breadth of experiences and knowledge shared from over 100 international faculty.
Finally, I would like to thank our industry partners who will join us for APAS 2026 as their continued and valuable support makes these meetings possible.
So with warm anticipation I am looking forward to welcoming you all to the 26th APAS conference in Kuala Lumpur in August and as our president David Choon has indicated why not come for the durian experience!
